Job Title: Early Childhood/Elementary Education Faculty Position
DEPARTMENT: School of Integrative Studies
Type: Faculty, Full-time, Non-tenure track
Stephens College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, Early Childhood/Elementary Education faculty member. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, mentor and advise students, and participate in program/college meetings and events. This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position to begin August 2023.
The Stephens College Education Program is home to The Children’s School, a constructivist, holistic-based, STEAM focused laboratory school community. It is comprised of a preschool program for children ages 3-5, and an elementary, K-5 program. Preservice teachers begin working in the laboratory school beginning their first semester on campus. Education faculty collaborate with laboratory school teachers to mentor, support, and provide feedback to preservice teachers.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a 12-credit hour teaching load each semester including literacy and math methods, foundations of education, and other courses consistent with academic preparation and program needs.
- Develop and facilitate engaging and immersive, multi-modal learning experiences.
- Supervise students in clinical field experiences, student teaching, and practicums at various sites.
- Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
- Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
- Provide service to the department, and college through committee work and other duties as assigned.
- Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities.
Qualifications:
- Doctorate in Early Childhood or Elementary Education from an accredited institution.
- Experience in Teacher Education and college teaching.
- Record of teaching courses related to Elementary or Early childhood Education
- Experience supervising student teaching.
- Experience teaching in early childhood and/or elementary classrooms.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to contributing to the mission of the program and college through research, teaching, and service.
- Experience developing and improving course content and curriculum.
- Experience using online classroom platforms or learning management systems (e.g., Canvas or similar platforms).
- Experience developing and/or teaching online, hybrid/in person courses.

Job Title: Department of Education – Lecturer in Education
WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS, Department of Education – Lecturer in Education. The Department of Education at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a teaching track faculty appointment in Education at the rank of Lecturer to begin in the Fall semester of 2023. A terminal degree in Education (PhD or EdD) is required. This position is a full-time appointment which includes the equivalent of 9-12 credit hours of teaching per semester with the possibility of administrative duties associated with the Department of Education. The initial duration of the appointment is one year, but the Department of Education is hoping to find a lecturer who will become part of our community for an extended period. Teaching track faculty are central to the mission of the Department and an important part of our community. The Department and broader University have dedicated resources to support their professional development.
Successful candidates will have well-defined teaching interests that align with our interdisciplinary undergraduate and master’s programs in teacher education (https://education.wustl.edu). In particular, we are looking for someone with a strong background in K-12 literacy who can teach the following courses for teacher certification: 1) elementary (e.g., Teaching Reading in the Elementary School; Language, Learning, and Instruction; and Diagnosis and Correction of Reading Disabilities) and 2) secondary (e.g., Instructional Interventions in Reading for Adolescents and English Language Learners; Reading in the Content Areas; and Teaching Writing in School Contexts). Ideal candidates would also possess strong experiences in K-12 educational settings applicable to supporting our teacher candidates in field and clinical experiences in local public-school classrooms. Knowledge and experience with teaching interdisciplinary courses relevant to teacher education and educational studies (e.g., The American School; Education, Childhood, Adolescence, and Society; and Sociolinguistics, Literacies, Schools, and Communities) would also be helpful, but is secondary to experience with K-12 teacher education.
