JOB TITLE & SUMMARY

POSITION TITLE:  Assistant Teaching Professor of Education, Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

Rockhurst University’s School of Education invites applications for a non-tenure-track (NTT) Assistant Teaching Professor of Education position. This is an 11-month, non-tenure-track (NTT) position with a start date of August 5, 2024. Responsibilities include teaching research methods and doctoral level courses and supervising doctoral students’ research projects. Applicants must have demonstrated an active research agenda. 

The Ed.D. in Education and Leadership is an online, cohort-based program with four concentration areas: K-12 Education, Higher Education, Healthcare Education, and Organizational Leadership. This Jesuit inspired Ed.D. program provides a distinctive approach to developing educational leaders, healthcare educators, and organizational leaders prepared to face the challenges of today’s accelerated rate of change.

The faculty teaching load will include courses such as Research Methods, Historical Topics in Higher Education, Active Pedagogies and Legal Aspects of Higher Education, with preference those who have a background in K-12 Leadership. The non-tenure-track faculty member also will engage in service activities that include mentoring doctoral students and guiding the Institutional Review Board (IRB) application and review process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or Ed.D. in education, educational administration, curriculum and instruction, education and leadership or a closely related field 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education
  • Evidence of expertise in research methods
  • Experience with directing graduate student research experiences
  • Experience with advising students
  • Experience with course development, implementation, and assessment

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of three years of experience teaching at the college level
  • Innovative pedagogy, including online teaching and learning practices
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with the Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and procedures
  • An awareness of and interest in the educational mission of Jesuit higher education

Experience: Certification or specialization in LETRS training, mathematics instruction, or special education. The applicant should also demonstrate an understanding of teaching at a liberal arts institution, a desire to work with undergraduate students, and a willingness to be a member of a collaborative and collegial faculty.

POSITION TITLE:  Director of Graduate Education

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Graduate Education is responsible for the overall management and enhancement of the university’s graduate programs. This role involves overseeing program development, student support, faculty coordination, and adherence to academic policies and standards.

Responsibilities:

The primary role of this position is to manage all aspects of the graduate programs for the School of Education:

  • Hiring and training of all faculty for graduate education programming.
  • Plan the teaching schedule for program faculty in consultation with the Dean.
  • Oversee the curricular processes to ensure the course and program outcomes are current, relevant, and appropriate.
  • In consultation with program faculty, prepare recommendations for revising course descriptions, program outcomes, assessment plans, and curriculum.
  • Oversee the development and execution of all assessments related to program and course outcomes.
  • Be responsible for addressing all program student and faculty concerns, which may involve the Dean or VPAA.
  • Collaborate with Dean and other SOE faculty and staff on the development and implementation of new programs.
  • Meet with faculty periodically during each academic year.
  • Participate in the review of student advising processes for graduate SOE students.
  • Write an annual report to the Dean each academic year.
  • Assist the SOE Chair in managing the SOE accreditation processes.
  • Assist the teacher certification unit as needed.
  • Teach at least one three-credit-hour class per academic year.
  • Serve on the Graduate Council for Avila University. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A collaborative and inclusive leader who exhibits a participatory leadership style and can use those skills to develop and guide the School of Education.
  • Proven skills in managing programs to State of MO DESE standards (or related accreditation experience).
  • Experience working in K-12 environments in teaching and leadership roles.
  • Experience in developing and implementing appropriate graduate level learning assessment plans for academic programs.
  • Superb communication skills, including written, verbal and presentation skills; someone who has routinely spoken in public and on behalf of an organization to promote knowledge.
  • Experience collecting, assembling and utilizing data to establish metrics that can drive decision-making.
  • Masters or Terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education.
  • More than 5 years of experience.
  • Multi-lingual skills highly preferred.

Stephens College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, Early Childhood/Elementary Education faculty member.  The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses, mentor and advise students, and participate in program/college meetings and events.  This is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track position to begin August 2023.

The Stephens College Education Program is home to The Children’s School, a constructivist, holistic-based, STEAM focused laboratory school community. It is comprised of a preschool program for children ages 3-5, and an elementary, K-5 program.  Preservice teachers begin working in the laboratory school beginning their first semester on campus.  Education faculty collaborate with laboratory school teachers to mentor, support, and provide feedback to preservice teachers.     

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a 12-credit hour teaching load each semester including literacy and math methods, foundations of education, and other courses consistent with academic preparation and program needs. 
  • Develop and facilitate engaging and immersive, multi-modal learning experiences. 
  • Supervise students in clinical field experiences, student teaching, and practicums at various sites.
  • Participate in curriculum development and assessment.
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
  • Provide service to the department, and college through committee work and other duties as assigned.
  • Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities.

Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in Early Childhood or Elementary Education from an accredited institution.

Job Title: Department of Education – Lecturer in Education

WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS, Department of Education – Lecturer in Education.  The Department of Education at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications for a  teaching track faculty appointment in Education at the rank of Lecturer to begin in the Fall  semester of 2023. A terminal degree in Education (PhD or EdD) is required. This position is a  full-time appointment which includes the equivalent of 9-12 credit hours of teaching per  semester with the possibility of administrative duties associated with the Department of  Education. The initial duration of the appointment is one year, but the Department of  Education is hoping to find a lecturer who will become part of our community for an extended  period. Teaching track faculty are central to the mission of the Department and an important  part of our community. The Department and broader University have dedicated resources to  support their professional development. 

Successful candidates will have well-defined teaching interests that align with our  interdisciplinary undergraduate and master’s programs in teacher education (https://education.wustl.edu). In particular, we are looking for someone with a strong  background in K-12 literacy who can teach the following courses for teacher certification: 1)  elementary (e.g., Teaching Reading in the Elementary School; Language, Learning, and  Instruction; and Diagnosis and Correction of Reading Disabilities) and 2) secondary (e.g., Instructional Interventions in Reading for Adolescents and English Language Learners; Reading  in the Content Areas; and Teaching Writing in School Contexts). Ideal candidates would also  possess strong experiences in K-12 educational settings applicable to supporting our teacher  candidates in field and clinical experiences in local public-school classrooms.
