New Legislation With Potential For Significant Regulatory Relief To Ed Prep Programs

Greetings, I wanted to let you know that the legislation that would provide significant regulatory relief to many teacher prep programs has been filed in the House.  It is HB 1163. Here is a link to the bill page where you can see the text –  Missouri House of Representatives – Bill Information for HB1163 (mo.gov).  As you know from last year, the bill would require the State Board to accept CAEP or AAQEP accreditation (for two examples) in lieu of DESE’s approval processes, such as the matrices.

I will keep you updated on new developments with the bill and what next steps might be.

In the meantime, it would be helpful for you to share this with the higher ed folks in MACTE.  I would also encourage them to contact THEIR local House member and express their support for the bill, and for regulatory relief for teacher prep programs in general.  Please let me know if anyone needs advice or help finding the words to write or simply finding their Rep.

Let me know if you have any questions or need more information on this. And thanks as always for your help and support on this.
