Our Keynote Presentation: Bridging the Research-Practice Gap

Dr. Brooke A. Whitworth
Associate Professor at Clemson University
Presentation Abstract/Summary:
Too often we see that it can take years, if not decades, for understandings we know to be true in research to reach the classroom. This results in teachers and students engaging in practices that are known to be unproductive and delaying the translation to the classroom. Bridging the research-practice gap and finding ways to do so is essential for all teacher educators. In this session, we will contemplate the implications for not doing so, and consider ways that we can engage in this practice as educators.
