Earth Sciences: A Beginner’s Guide – Virtual Workshop

FREE EVENT. This course is presented by Missouri S&T Teacher Education Program & Department of Geosciences

This 3-hour workshop will provide middle- and high-school teachers with an introduction to the geosciences through examining natural hazards and climate, including earthquakes, floods, fires, landslides, and sinkholes. Key topics will include a virtual demonstration or video with handouts. The workshop will conclude with a brief Q&A session about geoscience careers with professional geoscientists in Missouri. The workshop content will align with a number of Missouri’s Learning Standards in Earth Science for middle- and high-school teachers. We will mail out packets with geoscience materials to all the participants prior to the workshop. Registrants will also be alerted to future workshops where, if feasible given the constraints of the pandemic, we will include an in-person field trip. Questions? Email: Beth Kania-Gosche (bkaniagosche@mst.edu) or David Borrok (borrokd@mst.edu)
